General information about the insurance

  1. The insurance does not cover cases where you handle the equipment carelessly.
  2. The insurance does not cover damage to the equipment and other items caused by improper handling, even in cases of ignorance of proper procedures. It is always necessary to follow the correct procedures when working with the equipment. The rental company assumes that the customer is a professional who knows how to handle the equipment and is familiar with all necessary procedures.
  3. The equipment must always be secured under lock or under the supervision of an authorized person when not in use.
  4. The insurance does not cover the use of the equipment in dangerous situations, such as attaching the equipment to drones or other extreme situations, like war zones, simulated explosions, and other situations unless agreed upon with the insurance company in advance.
  5. In most cases, the equipment is not insured against theft of items and equipment stored in the vehicle. Always ensure that the vehicle with the equipment is under supervision, or never leave the equipment unattended in the car.
  6. If using a guarded parking lot, always check whether the parking facility actually covers extraordinary damages caused by the theft of photographic and film equipment from the vehicle, which often has a value in the range of hundreds of thousands to millions of CZK (in EUR: tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands, in USD: tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands). In most cases in the Czech Republic, this is not the case, and parking lots typically only cover ordinary damages up to a few thousand CZK.
  7. In the case of renting drones, the insurance does not cover any damages to the drone itself or damages caused by its use. Flying drones always requires special operator insurance and the appropriate permits.
  8. The insurance is valid only within the territory of the Czech Republic, and if you need insurance abroad, please inform us of the country where the insurance is required.

The insurance applies only to the person and company that rented the equipment and is listed in the order. In the case of incorrect or inaccurate information provided, we are not responsible for any potential denial of coverage by the insurance company.

Notice: You can request the complete insurance policy at the Bio Films branch; however, it is a very complex document with several addendums, so we recommend following these main rules.

In summary, always treat the equipment with the utmost respect and care to avoid any unnecessary damages.

ALLRISK Insurance Coverage

ALLRISK film equipment insurance can be applied against all risks during normal filming. All crew members are insured.

ALLRISK Insurance specifically covers:

  • Equipment transportation
  • Equipment storage in a vehicle or building (conditions see below)
  • Theft and burglary, for example, during filming (conditions see below)
  • Liability for damage (conditions see below)

The insurance also covers the insured's obligation to compensate for damage to items that the insured has taken over or has in their possession for processing, repair, modification, sale, or for another similar reason for the purpose of the ordered activity.

However, the insurance does not cover losses arising from the disappearance of items.

Equipment attached to a drone must be insured separately - so this must be reported.

ALLRISK Insurance Territorial Coverage

Unless otherwise specified in the order, the insurance automatically applies to the territory of the Czech Republic. If you need to insure the rental equipment outside the territory of the Czech Republic, this must be stated when ordering the insurance.

ALLRISK Liability Insurance

As part of the equipment insurance, liability insurance is arranged in the amount of 10 million CZK. With this option, the insurance premium is included in the final price (no extra charge).

This insurance covers damages caused by your activities or by the operation of your property.

All crew members are insured.

However, the insurance does not cover damage caused by any wear and tear of the item, damage caused by excessive mechanical stress, or damage caused by gross negligence of the insured or the person the insured used for their activities. The insurance does not cover damage caused by the disappearance of the item.

What are my obligations to prevent damages under ALLRISK insurance?

What are my obligations to prevent damages?
The insured is obliged to take measures to protect the property corresponding to its value. This means that a basic camera set can be transported in a personal vehicle and, if it is not otherwise possible, can remain in a locked vehicle, as long as it is not visible (in the trunk). In a well-lit area, under camera surveillance (gas station, public parking).

The insurance protection requires the vehicle to be equipped with an immobilizer or alarm.

The insurance also covers damages caused during handling of the equipment, but remember that workers must be properly trained.

Larger camera sets and camera vehicles must be parked as follows, considering the value of the equipment:

  • At the location and address of the insured company, or its authorized subject, before the start or after the end of transportation, in a locked brick garage, hall, or facility with permanent security, or on another enclosed property.
  • During transportation at gas stations, public parking lots, customs areas, bus or train stations, and airports, which must be continuously lit by natural or artificial light, and are commonly used for these purposes with frequent movement of vehicles and people. This provision only applies to short interruptions of transportation, for a maximum of two hours.
  • During transportation, for longer parking, the presence of the driver, security service, or enclosed premises, respectively a facility with permanent security, is required.

When storing property in rented spaces
We recommend replacing lock cylinders to ensure that unauthorized persons cannot access the storage using spare keys. Always consider where the storage space is located and whether it was selected with due care and is suitable for storing property of the insured value.

Protection against theft (overcoming obstacles)
Theft by burglary is also considered if items from the defined shooting area are stolen, provided the insured items are under continuous supervision by the responsible person, and outside filming hours, the insured items are stored in properly locked spaces (locked doors, windows, and other accesses), with at least one security lock. If the above conditions are met, the condition of overcoming obstacles and the thief's path are considered fulfilled. Compensation from the insurer requires an investigation by the Czech Police.
