Insurance & Terms of Use

You can insure the borrowed equipment with us. You can order insurance when creating an online order on our website.

UNIQA ALLRISK INSURANCE

The minimum insurance premium (including liability insurance) is 550 CZK per order or one time block. If the order includes multiple time blocks, each block is considered a separate order for insurance purposes. Students are entitled to a 40% discount, so the minimum insurance premium for them is 330 CZK per order or one time block. The listed insurance premium is for informational purposes only. Exact insurance terms and premium amounts are determined individually based on the filming location and the nature of the shoot.

Insurance companies calculate premiums based on calendar days. This means that if a customer orders equipment with pickup the evening before and returns it the next morning, the insurance covers the entire previous day and the entire following day, which may affect the insurance price. (For example, a rental from Friday, January 17 at 18:00 to Sunday, January 19 at 10:00 is charged as one day for the rental, but from the insurance perspective, it is charged as three calendar days—Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.)

The deductible is 5,000 CZK.

  • Group A countries (Czech Republic, Austria, Slovakia, Poland, Germany)
  • Group B countries (European Union – the specific country or countries where filming will take place must be specified)
  • Group C countries (the rest of the world excluding high-risk countries – the specific country or countries where filming will take place must be specified. Liability insurance does not cover damages occurring in the United States, Canada, or Australia.)

Deductible during equipment transport: If transported goods are stolen between 22:00 and 06:00, a deductible of 20%, minimum 10,000 CZK per insured event is applied. This clause does not apply if the damage occurred in a locked brick garage, hall, or area with permanent security, or another enclosed property.

Note: Insurance does not cover drones. To insure drones, a special aerial work insurance policy and concurrent permission from the Civil Aviation Authority (ÚCL) are required. Therefore, Biofilms cannot offer such insurance.

General Information about Insurance

  1. Insurance does not cover cases where equipment is handled negligently.
  2. Insurance does not cover damage to equipment and other items caused by improper handling, even in cases of ignorance of correct procedures. Proper procedures must always be followed when working with equipment. The rental company assumes that the customer is a professional who knows how to handle the equipment and is familiar with all necessary procedures.
  3. Equipment must always be secured under lock or under the supervision of an authorized person when not in use.
  4. Insurance does not cover the use of equipment in dangerous situations, such as attaching equipment to drones or other extreme situations like war zones, simulated explosions, and other scenarios, unless previously agreed upon with the insurance company.
  5. In most cases, equipment is not insured against theft of items and equipment stored in a vehicle. Always ensure that the vehicle with equipment is supervised, or do not leave equipment unattended in the car.
  6. If using a guarded parking lot, always check whether the parking lot is truly responsible for extraordinary damages caused by the theft of photographic and film equipment from the vehicle, which often has a value in the hundreds of thousands to millions of CZK (in EUR: tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands, in USD: tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands). In most cases in the Czech Republic, this is not the case, and parking lots only cover standard damages within a few thousand CZK.
  7. In the case of drone rentals, insurance does not cover any damage to the drone or damage caused by its use. Flying drones always requires special operator insurance and appropriate permissions.
  8. Insurance is valid only within the territory of the Czech Republic, and if you need insurance abroad, inform us of the country for which you need insurance.

Insurance applies only to the person and company that rented the equipment and is listed in the order. In case of incorrect or erroneous information, we are not responsible for any potential denial of coverage by the insurance company.

Note: The complete wording of the insurance policy can be requested at the Bio Films branch; however, it is a very complex document with several appendices, so we recommend following these main rules.

In summary, always treat the equipment with the utmost respect and care to avoid unnecessary damage.

Scope of ALLRISK Insurance

ALLRISK film equipment insurance can be applied against all dangers during regular filming. All crew members are insured.

Specifically, ALLRISK Insurance Covers:

  • Equipment transport
  • Equipment storage in a vehicle or building (conditions see below)
  • Theft and burglary, for example, during filming (conditions see below)
  • Liability for damage (conditions see below)

Insurance also covers the insured's obligation to compensate for damage to items that the insured has taken over or has for processing, repair, modification, sale, or for another similar reason for the purpose of the ordered activity.

However, insurance in the basic scope does not cover damages resulting from the disappearance of items.

Equipment attached to a drone must be insured separately—that is, this fact must be reported.

Territorial Validity of ALLRISK Insurance

Unless otherwise stated in the order, insurance automatically applies within the territory of the Czech Republic. ::contentReference[oaicite:0]{index=0}
